 1) Generating Ideas

  • Analysing publications
  • Consider recent trends
  • Look up upcoming events
  • Consider other writers publications
  • Think of a new angle on a particular topic
2) Crafting the article
  • Research your article idea using sources (e.g. books)
  • Locate individuals who could be good sources
  • Interview sources
  • Transcribe your interviews
  • Create article outlines
  • Use a hook line first
  • Weave in quotes from experts/reliable sources
  • End on a strong concluding statement that illuminates your article topic
3) Revising the article
  • Discuss article with editor
  • Apply editor and peer feedback to the article 
  • Revise the article for flow and structure
  • Turn in the revised article by the deadline

Composition

For a good photograph, you will need: - Good subject - Good lighting - Good composition Rule of Thirds  - Centre of interest (strong focal point) - Simplicity (keeping it simple with a background that isn't distracting) - Subject off centre (slightly off centre rather than in the middle) Leading lines Lines lead into the frame rather than out of it - leads to the main point of interest Viewpoint/angles Shoot at varying angles to capture a subject from a different viewpoint. Higher of lower angles can create a dramatic effect of being more powerful or less powerful Lighting Dramatic lighting adds interest to the photo. Silhouettes could be used to make the subject dark against a light background Framing Framing a subject by zooming in or moving closer draws attention to the subject Symmetry An identical or near to identical image often provides a formal balance
